Successful Business, It's All About Retention

There are two things that no business can do without in order to grow or even just survive. Without employees and customers there essentially is no business and all owners are in a constant battle to retain both. Unfortunately, many business owners do not see this need as important and make some common mistakes that cause them to lose both on a regular basis.
Employee turn over is not new and will it is unlikely that any business will ever have a 100 percent retention rate. Between retirements, employees striking out on the own or winning the lottery can never wanting to work again are some of the voluntary reasons people have for leaving an otherwise good job. There is little that employers can do to prevent this type of turn over, but the employees will still have to be replaced. There is what some employers consider good turn over, when a bad hiring decision was made and an employee has a negative attitude that is affecting the morale and productivity of others.
The cost of employee turn over can be high, considering that many employment experts put a price tag of between $2,000 and $3,000 on the search and training efforts to add each new employee. That is just getting them on the job, trained and ready to work and does not consider how long it takes to make them productive enough to become an asset.
Numerous employment surveys have shown that while money is important to many employees there are other things employers can do to keep them happy, productive and on the job. One of the most common complaints from employees is a lack of training to enable them to fulfill their job duties to the employer's expectations. Feeling that they cannot do their job properly leads many to seek out other opportunities.
Feeling appreciated for the job they do is another major complaint among employees and while they may be doing exactly what they are paid to do, just want to know that the boss knows they are there and doing it. Many employers only thank employees if they go above and beyond their normal job description duties, saying they are paid to some to work every day and do their job. Employees agree that yes, that is their responsibility but there is no incentive to do anything extra. Incentive can come from a certificate of appreciation or a certificate of attendance.
Customers are another matter in which some company owners fail to recognize the importance of keeping them happy. Studies have shown that when a customer is happy with a company they tell three or four of their friends. However, if a complaint is not resolved they will tell a dozen or so and word of mouth advertising can go both ways to help or hurt a business.
The customer may not always be right, but the owner needs to make them think that they are by making them feel important enough to take the time to explain to them why they are being told no.

Increasing Residual Income through Delegation

Each and every time one of the people to whom you delegate the responsibility to moving a product does indeed close a sale, you stand to profit from that transaction without having to lift a finger. Imagine how much money you are able to generate with this concept!

Now imagine what would happen if person A brought in people B1 though B100! The possibilities – and the income – would be seemingly endless! Within just a bit of time, person A would no longer have to be selling the product to make money; instead, she or he can simply relax, sit back, and enjoy the residual income generated by persons B, C and so on.
Of course, you do not have to be content with just working for one company and building a residual income network! Instead, why not sign up for two, four, or eight companies? If you are a sales-minded person with a knack for people skills, you will be able to put your soft skills to work and build any number of profitable networks. The trick is to find companies that offer a worthwhile product with a future, a generous compensation plan, and at the same time one where you will not be so far down the line that you are entering in a market that is already saturated with agents who are working for the company. If you find yourself in such a position, you will find that your only real way of making money is by selling the product.
This business model of increasing residual income through delegation of sales responsibilities is, of course, known as multi level marketing, and by many considered the only real way of making money within the sales field.

However, getting started at a work from home job is always the hardest part because you have to worry so much about what you are going to be doing at this job. Can you find a work from home job? Or will you be doing what you are already doing? There are several steps that you can take to make sure that when you do find a work from home job you are able to do so easily and that the job is going to fit your needs exactly.
First of all, you should take inventory of your job right now. Do you like what you are doing, or do you hate it? Are you only working where you are because that is the way you have to make money, or is it something that you really enjoy but you would rather work from home? This is the first question that you have to ask yourself so that you will be able to work from home as easily as possible.
If you like what you are doing ,and you like your job, the first thing that you should do is sit down with your boss and see if there is any way that you can do your job at home. Some employers are really going to latch onto this because it has been proven that people who work from home are often much better able to do their work and to get it done sooner. Therefore, your boss might allow you to do what you are doing now from the comfort of your own home. You might still have to go to the office occasionally for meetings or to do other things, but if you talk to your boss you might find out that you are able to do what you are doing in a much more easy way. The other thing that you could do if your boss is not happy with you working form home is to look for another employer that will employ you to do what you are doing now, except will allow you to do it from home. This is something that is also possible for you because it will end up being very easy for you to find a job where you are working from home.

When you are ready to become happy, you want to be sure that you can do all you want to do in your life. The search for happiness is often something that comes after a long time. It is also something that comes with a little bit of work. There are some times when people really want to be happy but they believe that happiness is all a matter of getting everything that you need. In reality, it is very hard to be happy when you have everything that you want. This might seem strange to some, but the search for everything is often what drives people to unhappiness.
The reason that so many people are unhappy is that they are trying to make everything as perfect as they can. They want to be able to do all that they can to try to be as successful as possible. Many people find it hard to do this. The fight to have the best job, the best cars, and the best of everything. A lot of people spend a lot of time trying to get as much of everything as they can. It is important to them that they are able to get as much as they can, and so they spend all of their time looking for these things. However, there are issues that come up with this.
One of the main problems with thinking that having everything will make you happy is that it is simply not possible to have everything. If you base your happiness on trying to make everything happen and get everything that you can get, you will soon find that you are basing your happiness on something that is completely impossible. If you had a product to sell that was used only by people over the age of 50, it probably would do you no good to advertise in magazines or on television shows that are aimed at people between 20 and 30 years of age. To be effective, marketing and advertising efforts need to be placed in front of the people that can actually use the product and not the thousands of others who cannot and will not ever consider it. Many old-time advertisers believed it is better to fire a single bullet from a rifle aimed directly at the target instead of shooting a hundred pellets from a shotgun and hoping one gets close.
Blind canvassing or taking the shotgun approach only works in certain industries where the potential customer base is undefined. Industries such as fast-food or many family-oriented restaurants and those that cater to wide range of consumers can often benefit from shotgun advertising. However, niche companies and those that are after a specific demographic rarely achieve success unless they conduct market specific marketing.
It is considered the best use of the marketing budget by being aimed at the best customer. The return on the investment is the best measure of the marketing effort as well as how many new sales or repeat sales are generated by the fewest dollars. In many areas of advertising it is a numbers game and the more people who see the ad, the better chance there is of making a sale.
However, smart business owners look at the return on their advertising investment to determine the meaning of a successful campaign. For example, by sending out 10,000 ads to a generalized area, there may be only 100 responses. Of that 100, one turns into a customer. Although the 10,000 ads only cost you about $100, that translates into $100 per new customer.
Targeted ads, historically return four times as many respondents with a fourth of the effort. This translates into 2,500 ads going out with 100 respondents with four turning into customers. With A $50 charge, this translates into $12.50 for the new customer, a significantly higher return on the investment. While the numbers will vary based on the type of product or service being offered and the quality of the ad going out, it is representative of the difference in the approaches taken in advertising.
If you have every stopped at a roadside travel center along an interstate highway, you have probably seen volumes of advertising about travel spots. Tourist attractions and vacation information can fills racks at these centers because they are geared towards the traveler. There is a reason these same brochures are not handed out in elementary schools…they miss the primary target.
Being able to target the marketing effort will take research to determine the location of the most people that can use the information you have to offer. However, once you find the potential customers and send them the right message about your company, you can be prepared for a much bigger return on your investment.

While the numbers will vary based on the type of product or service being offered and the quality of the ad going out, it is representative of the difference in the approaches taken in advertising.
If you have every stopped at a roadside travel center along an interstate highway, you have probably seen volumes of advertising about travel spots. Tourist attractions and vacation information can fills racks at these centers because they are geared towards the traveler. There is a reason these same brochures are not handed out in elementary schools…they miss the primary target.
Being able to target the marketing effort will take research to determine the location of the most people that can use the information you have to offer. However, once you find the potential customers and send them the right message about your company, you can be prepared for a much bigger return on your investment.
